About the event

Presentation Summary: In this presentation, Dr. Carrie Anne Marshall and Brooklyn Ward, MSc. will discuss the topic of tiny homes and sleeping cabins as a response to homelessness, and present the findings of an international scoping review of peer-reviewed and grey literature exploring the topic of tiny homes and sleeping cabins. In this review, a total of 116 articles were included, which primarily included non-peer reviewed articles. None of the included studies explored the effectiveness of tiny homes or sleeping cabins on psychosocial outcomes to provide evidence for their use. Dr. Marshall and Brooklyn will discuss the importance of conducting future research exploring the effectiveness of tiny homes and sleeping cabins on outcomes including tenancy sustainment and indices of psychosocial well-being, and in comparison with other approaches including permanent supportive housing, transitional housing, and emergency shelter models. They will specifically highlight the need for distinguishing between the terms "tiny homes"…
