Rural Homelessness

Homelessness in rural communities is often underrecognized, though it is a growing phenomenon in many communities. This project, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, is aimed at exploring experiences of homelessness in communities in Canada and beyond. Through this work, we also seek to develop novel approaches and evaluate existing models that support the needs of individuals who experience housing precarity in rural communities so that they can stay in these communities, rather than migrate to urban centres in search of services and health and social care supports.
