Presentation Summary: As Canada’s population ages, long-term care (LTC) homes are increasingly caring for individuals with complex and often unmet mental health needs. Mental health challenges are widespread among LTC residents, yet access to timely, appropriate, and specialized mental health care remains limited. Drawing on findings from a scoping review, this presentation brings attention to critical gaps in mental health care access in long-term care.
Speaker Biography: Lallu Sara John, RN, BScN, MN, CPPS, CPHQ, CHE is a PhD Candidate in Health Information Science at Western University and an active member of the Social Justice in Mental Health Research Lab led by Dr. Carrie Anne Marshall. She holds a Master of Nursing with a leadership focus and brings extensive experience in long-term care leadership, quality improvement, and patient safety.
